The solubility of tolnaftate in various solvents at room temperature has been reported. It is practically insoluble in water, soluble in 1 in 4000 of ethanol, 1 in 7 of acetone, 1 in 9 of carbon tetrachloride, 1 in 55 of ether and 1 in 1.5 of chloroform.

  • Tolnaftate stops the growth of fungi that cause skin infections, including athlete's foot, jock itch, and ringworm

Tolnaftate API

Tolnaftate is a topical fungicide. Though its exact mechanism unknown, it is believed to prevent ergosterol biosynthesis by inhibiting squalene epoxidase. It has also been reported to distort the hyphae and to stunt mycelial growth in susceptible organisms.
